Through a broad and challenging curriculum, students develop deep knowledge, strong habits of mind, and the confidence to use both.

Curriculum intent

High expectations. Real support.

We set the bar high - and we help every student reach it.

Our curriculum is rich, rigorous and carefully sequenced, with a strong focus on the EBacc, literacy, oracy and the knowledge students need to thrive at GCSE and beyond. Partnerships with UCL's Science Hub and Debate Mate bring exceptional learning experiences into everyday school life.

Every student is known by name

We are a small school by design. With 120 students joining each year, we build genuine relationships - between students, between teachers and students, and between school and home. Students feel safe, supported and part of something. That sense of belonging isn't incidental to learning. It makes it possible.

Ready for whatever comes next

A Charter Bermondsey education prepares students for life, not just exams.

Through our Gatsby Benchmark-aligned careers programme, timetabled enrichment, Greenhouse Sports partnership and a rich offer of trips, clubs and opportunities, students graduate with the qualifications, skills and character to make the most of what's ahead - including priority access to Outstanding sixth forms at Charter North Dulwich and Charter East Dulwich.

How we know our students are making progress

We use assessment to help every student grow - tracking understanding lesson by lesson, and measuring progress across the year.

Summative Assessment
(Formal assessments)

Three times a year, students sit formal assessments. These are developed internally, with structured mock exams at Key Stage 4. They give students the opportunity to demonstrate what they know, help teachers evaluate the impact of their teaching, and give families a clear picture of where their child stands.

Formative Assessment
(Lesson-by-lesson assessment)

Between formal assessments, our teachers use ongoing formative assessment to guide every lesson. Regular quizzes, retrieval tasks and knowledge checks help embed learning in long-term memory - meaning students aren't just keeping up, they're genuinely retaining and building on what they know.
