Students marked Holocaust Memorial Day with a range of activities including a special assembly, dedicated lessons in History and Religious Studies, and a Year 9 trip to the Imperial War Museum, where they explored the causes of the Holocaust and survivor testimony. Staff were extremely impressed by the pupils' thoughtful engagement and impressive prior knowledge. Students demonstrated a sophisticated understanding of terminology, using the word Shoah — the Hebrew term meaning catastrophe or destruction — reflecting a deeper historical and cultural perspective. The session provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on the human impact of this tragic period in history and to strengthen analytical and ethical understanding.
