Curriculum Intent

Our history curriculum teaches students about Britain’s past and the wider world, fostering curiosity and critical thinking through historical enquiry. Students learn to ask perceptive questions, evaluate evidence, and understand the complexities of societies, relationships, and identities, preparing them for further study of the subject.

Key Stage 3

Taught through 2 x 55-minute periods each week

At KS3, students engage in historical enquiry, exploring primary and secondary sources. They study themes such as political institutions, belief systems, societal change, and human interconnectedness, building foundational skills for deeper historical understanding.

Key Stage 4

Taught through 3 x 55-minute periods each week

At KS4, students build on KS3 themes by studying topics like Life in Germany, Cold War tensions, Elizabeth I, and Health and the People. These topics encourage them to analyze societal developments and interconnected historical themes.
