Curriculum Intent

Personal, Social, Health, and Economic (PSHE) education is vital for fostering independent, responsible, and confident members of society. Our curriculum nurtures the holistic development of students, promoting social, emotional, and physical well-being. Students learn to navigate moral, social, and cultural issues while acquiring the skills necessary for personal safety and community contribution.

Key Stage 3

Taught through “Relating” – 1 x 55-minute period each fortnight alongside Citizenship & RSE.

Key Stage 4

Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) is mandated in all schools. At Compass, it is delivered through a combination of Relating, Science, PE, and IT curricula, with specialized external support. Parents have the right to withdraw their child from certain aspects of sex education; any concerns should be addressed with the senior leadership team.

If you have any questions about the PSHE or RSE curriculum, please contact phaverty@charterbermondsey.org.uk (Senior Leader of Pastoral). Please note that withdrawal is not permitted for relationship, health, or sex education included in the national curriculum for science.
