Curriculum Intent

Our Science curriculum helps students build a robust foundation of key concepts and to recognise the power of rational explanation. Students will develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena, learning how science explains, predicts, and analyses the world around them. Our goal is for students to feel empowered to tackle current and future challenges, and to inspire them to continue their scientific studies beyond GCSE.

Key Stage 3

Taught through 4.5 x 55-minute periods each week (5 for Year 9)

In KS3, we lay the groundwork for both scientific thinking and core knowledge. Students will explore biology, chemistry, and physics, and learn how to design and conduct scientific experiments to draw meaningful conclusions.

Key Stage 4

Taught through 5 x 55-minute periods each week (6 for Separate Science)

At KS4, students follow the AQA specification for Separate or Combined Science courses. We provide high-quality instruction in all areas of biology, chemistry, and physics, supporting students as they develop a range of competencies, including analytical, evaluative, and practical skills.
