Mr Marcus Huntley
Mr Huntley was appointed as Principal of The Charter School Bermondsey in September 2017, having held the position of Head of School at City of London Academy Southwark. Mr Huntley has taught in a range of schools in London since qualifying in 2000.
A Religious Studies specialist, Mr Huntley started his teaching career at Wallington Grammar School (Sutton), before moving on to Ernest Bevin College, an all-boys comprehensive in Tooting. During his 10 years there, he progressed through a range of leadership positions with an emphasis on developing whole-school teaching and learning. He joined City of London Academy in January 2012 as Vice Principal responsible for teaching and learning, then progressed to Senior Vice Principal, then Head of School in April 2016.
Mr Huntley holds a Master’s degree in Education from Roehampton University, a PGCE from Westminster College, Oxford, and an undergraduate Batchelor of Arts Honours degree in Religious Studies and Art from Brunel University.

Ms Sarah Milburn
Ms Milburn has been teaching History since 2008 and enjoys every moment of delving into the past with her students. She is eager to continue her own learning of History especially when it is because students themselves have asked for projects that look into their heritage or a unique aspect of a popular historical topic.
Ms Milburn is a Teach First Ambassador and likes to stay up to date with educational policy through the Teach First Ambassador network. She has experience of teaching and leading in a number of different inner-city London schools in roles such as Head of History, Lead for Global Perspectives Research and Head of Humanities. These experiences led her to take on the role of Senior Leader for Communications and Culture at The Charter School Bermondsey to explore leadership on a whole school level across a variety of different subjects such as English, Creative and Performing Arts and the Humanities.
In addition to teaching, Ms Milburn spent three years of her career working outside of schools and in the wider education sector from international development to educational research. This includes her role as an Education Consultant in Uganda for UK based charity PEAS who set up secondary schools in remote parts of Africa. Whilst working as an Education Consultant, PEAS set up eight new schools in Uganda and built their reputation within the Ministry of Education. Following her time in Uganda, Ms Milburn worked with social enterprise Enabling Enterprise as a Senior Associate for Research and Development. This saw her lead on a piece of action research with UBS into soft skill development in Hackney primary and secondary school students and culminated in a publication on Character Education.
Ms Milburn holds an Oxford MA in Modern History after graduating from The University of Oxford in 2008.

Miss Claire Hayward
Miss Hayward joined The Charter School Bermondsey community in January 2016 as a Teacher of English, complementing a successful English department. She became the Head of West house in September 2016, overseeing students from all year groups and supporting their pastoral needs. This became the Head of YEAR 7 in September 2018, leading on a successful transition programme as well as leading on the pastoral development of students in Year 7. In January 2022, Miss Hayward became the SENCO and leads the Inclusion team in supporting all of our SEN students as well as overseeing LAC and EAL provisions in the school.

Ms Maggie Selman
Mrs Selman has extensive experience of finance working across commercial, healthcare and education sectors. Prior to joining The Charter School Bermondsey in August 2017, Maggie was a school business manager for 7 years in a small primary school and had also been a PTA chairperson/Treasurer and a governor/Chairperson for 10 years.
Mrs Selman’s strength is the setting of prudent budgets at times of financial uncertainty, achieving value for money, while ensuring the core business of teaching and learning flourishes. She also is passionate about having the best learning environment and facilities available to promote the well-being of pupils and staff.
Mrs Selman holds a degree in Business Studies, the ACCA qualification and a certificate and diploma in School Business Management (CSBM and DSBM). Mrs Selman also holds the IOSH Health & safety at work qualification and is a St Johns Ambulance volunteer.

Mr Patrick Haverty
Mr Haverty joined The Charter School Bermondsey in 2017. After studying Sociology at BA and the Public Policy and Practice MA at university, he left to teach in Sudan for a year where he first had his experience of teaching. He then completed, his PGCE in Citizenship at the Institute of Education. He has been a Head of Year for 4 years and is the current Head of Year 11 and now has the additional responsibility of being Senior Leader of Behaviour for Learning since 2022.

Mr Edd Snoxell
Mr Snoxell joined The Charter School Bermondsey in September 2018 as a teacher of PE and Pastoral Leader. He qualified as a teacher in 2015 having completed a PGCE at the University of Cumbria.
Mr Snoxell left The Charter School Bermondsey in June 2020 but returned a year later as Assistant Principal for Pastoral as he could not stay away from The Charter School Bermondsey community. He has an interest in with young people and ensuring they all have equal opportunities to progress in life.

Ms Bethany Clapham
Miss Clapham joined The Charter School Bermondsey in September 2019 as a Senior Leader of Teaching and Learning and Head of Maths. She qualified as a teacher in 2015 having completed a PGCE at the University of Manchester. Miss Clapham has been a Lead Practitioner and has worked in a range of inner London schools. She particularly enjoys working through problems with the pupils, and has seen great success at teaching both GCSE and A Level Maths classes.
Miss Clapham read Law with Spanish at the University of Sheffield, including spending one year studying Law at Granada University, Spain. Upon graduating, Miss Clapham began training as an accountant before realising her passion and making the transition to teaching.
Miss Clapham recently featured in the worldwide campaign 1 Million Women in STEM which serves to challenge the equality gap and promote women in roles of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

Ms Walkey-Williams was born and raised in Southwark, completing her degree while working as a features assistant. She completed her PGCE at the Institute of Education, London, working in a diverse range of schools. Prior to working at The Charter School Bermondsey, she taught English and Media at a large academy trust for three years.
Ms Walkey-Williams joined The Charter School Bermondsey in September 2015 as a teacher of English and Literacy Lead. She became Leader of English the following year, overseeing some fantastic results before being appointed as Assistant Principal of Community. Coming from our local community, Ms Walkey-Williams is committed to ensuring that all students are able to reach their desired destinations.

Mr Rory Beard
Mr Beard joined The Charter School Bermondsey in 2018 as Head of Humanities. After studying Geography at university, he completed his PGCE in the same subject at the Institute of Education in 2012. His passion and wealth of experiences surrounding the subject fueled the results achieved in teaching roles in two central London schools and has equipped him well in the role as Head of Humanities at The Charter School Bermondsey.
Alongside this, Mr Beard is responsible for our Higher Prior attaining and is a Senior Leader for Teaching and Learning, overseeing the co-curriculum within the school since January 2021.
