Why choose The Charter School Bermondsey?
We welcome applications from enthusiastic and innovative educators who are dedicated to providing a holistic education for our student. We recognise that all roles in our school, non-teaching and teaching, contribute to our students’ success, so are looking for people who are ready to embrace our vision to create Better Futures for Children.
We aim that all our pupils develop a secure body of knowledge, skills, values, and cultural experiences that enable them to build better futures for themselves and others. We believe that all pupils have the potential to flourish, through great teaching, providing the right conditions and opportunities. Our core values of aspiration, integrity, exploration, and resilience underpin our mission and support our pupils to become happy, independent and confident young people.
We offer competitive inner London salaries and reward great teachers with our performance related pay scheme. All staff receive laptops and an annual entitlement to high quality CPD, and:

- A new state-of-the-art building opening in 2023 just a stone’s throw from Bermondsey tube
- Cycle to work and childcare voucher schemes

We are a four-form entry, mixed, 11-16 free school that opened in September 2013 as Compass School Southwark. Founded by a varied and experienced group of Trustees, the school will grow to offer an exceptional education to 600 young people in the heart of Bermondsey. We are ideally located just a short walk from Bermondsey Tube Station.
Our new building which is near completion, will facilitate a fantastic education for our young people with state-of-the-art learning and sports facilities.
The school joined The Charter School’s Educational Trust in July 2023 becoming The Charter School Bermondsey. This exciting new partnership will bring fantastic opportunities, including access to first rate professional development opportunities for employees.
An opportunity to grow and lead
Successful candidates will have relevant experience, the drive and enthusiasm to go “above and beyond” in all areas of school life to ensure that students and the school exceed expectations. All staff are expected to contribute fully in school life, and for the right candidates there may be opportunities for additional whole-school leadership responsibilities.
If you share our values, and are excited by the prospect of making a real contribution to a small and growing school, we want to hear from you.
